About me

My name is Yuwei Wei and I founded Pender Street Partners to acquire one outstanding business in the Greater Vancouver Area, to operate and grow over the long-term.

My parents and I immigrated to Vancouver, Canada when I was 5 years old. I grew up in the Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood, attended Magee Secondary School in Kerrisdale, and graduated from UBC’s Sauder School of Business.

Post-undergrad, I became a consultant at McKinsey & Company where I worked with CEOs and leaders of companies of all sizes, from local credit unions to national retailers, to translate strategy into day-to-day operational initiatives. During the COVID pandemic, I was seconded to lululemon, where I worked in Retail Operations, making important and urgent decisions for stores as retailers faced operational challenges brought on by the pandemic.

I discovered entrepreneurship through acquisition when I returned to school to get my MBA at Harvard Business School in 2022. Building my career around buying a small business resonates with me deeply. As first-generation immigrants, my parents found communities and built their livelihoods in the small businesses that employed them. And after years of living away from home, it’s been my dream to move back to Vancouver, build deeper roots here, and give back to the local community.

My parents bought our first home on East Pender Street in Vancouver, which solidified their “Canadian dream.” I’m excited to partner with a business owner like you to realize my own.
